Fire Protection Capabilities

Cherokee is a Native American-owned small business enterprise providing fire protection consulting, engineering and design, analysis and inspection services to a wide range of private commercial, government and military clients. Cherokee can address many aspects of a total program by providing cradle-to-grave capabilities from establishing requirements to reviewing designs to managing on site construction project close-out
The fire protection staff at Cherokee are degreed fire protection engineers, including registered Professional Engineers and Certified Fire Inspectors, Educators and Arson Investigators. Our staff actively participates with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the Society of Fire Protection Engineering (SFPE) to maintain our knowledge of code and standard changes and trends, as well as product development so that our clients receive the best solutions to their specific life safety and fire protection challenges.

Cherokee's staff has nearly 50 years of combined experience ranging from consulting to the nuclear power industry, performing full-scale fire testing and computer modeling for the U.S. Navy, designing fire alarm and suppression systems for numerous private clients and governmental agencies, analyzing fire hazards for the Department of Energy, providing third-party inspection and testing services to local municipalities to serving as the Authority Having Jurisdiction for the National Institutes of Health.

Projects have included replacement of the building alarm system while maintaining the existing system in a sensitive computer facility, upgrading sprinkler density in a warehouse to reflect new storage arrangements and packaging, development of alternate exiting strategies as new additions blocked existing exits both during construction and permanent arrangements, presentation of Life Safety Code® equivalencies to the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) for approval of new hospital construction, development of fire protection requirements in new Bio Safety Level 4 laboratories and design and construction management support for several Federal research laboratories.
