Job Description: Project Management - Engineering Management Reviews

Cherokee provides labor, supervision, management and administration resources necessary for providing fire protection engineering management (review and inspection) services to the National Institutes of Health’s Division of the Fire Marshal, Security and Emergency Response Programs. This includes various construction projects at the NIH main campus located in Bethesda, MD, the NIH Animal Center, Poolesville, MD, the Rocky Mountain Laboratory in Hamilton, MT, as well as other NIH facilities located in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area.

Assisting users with the development of scope of proposed renovations to ensure that existing life safety deficiencies are corrected and new ones not created.

  • Assisting in developing equivalent levels of protection when strict code compliance is not physically possible or prohibitively expensive.

  • Identification of required Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM) for construction projects within health care facilities as required by The Joint Commission (formerly the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO)) and in-progress inspections to ensure compliance with the ILSM.

  • Input into the development and maintenance of the JCAHO Statement of Conditions (SOC).

  • Review of project concept and design development drawings for code and NIH criteria compliance.

  • Review of fire protection system (sprinkler, fire alarm, fire pump, etc.) installation contractor submittals.

  • As built drawing verification and final (occupancy permit) inspections.

  • In-progress inspection of fire protection features (fire walls, fire doors fire dampers, etc.) and fire protection systems.
